Luis acquired professional expertise in telecommunications over the last 25 years working in academia and industry at international scale, building up an important professional network. He has published over 60 papers in international conference and high-impact journals, and holds several PCT/European patents. His current professional passion is dedicated to developing next generations of voice interfaces and speech communication. In 2016 he co-founded proactivaudio, a start-up specialised in acoustic echo cancellation for web-based audioconferencing. Luis is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

During 2016 proactivaudio conducted a survey on teleconferencing satisfaction among professionals from public and private sectors. The survey aimed to understand what factors make good (and not that good) today’s videoconferencing systems for tele-collaboration.
